A long time ago, a romance author said that women protect children and men protect women. But today's author has penned a tale in which the hero protects a child--and what could be sexier?
FIVE FUN FACTS:
- Favorite beverage: ORIGINAL COKE!
- One habit you just can’t break: Being on the computer too much
- Do you sing in the shower: Nope
- Do you dream in color: Sometimes, but I usually don’t remember my dreams unless they are very very scary or gory.
- TV shows on DVR? Hell on Wheels. We watch it later on in the week when there’s nothing else on and savor it.
- What is your recurring dream? When I’m awake, my recurring daydream is to write a book that makes it to the NYT bestseller’s list. DREAM ON, BABY!
- Shoes or purses? Actually, I’m really not hung up on either one—the purse has to be big and the shoes have to be comfortable.
- Favorite ways to spend a rainy day? Reading a favorite book, writing on my latest project, or watching movies and eating pizza. (Did I mention how much I am in love with Daniel Craig?)
Using these four words, write a sentence: Boy. Sour. Book. Conscious.
The boy was conscious of the sour pickle juice that dripped on the book as he read, but he always ate pickles during a good story. (My dad and I both loved sour pickles and they are harder and harder to find.)
Feel free to give us a teaser about your new book and information where to find you online.
I have a new release out, KANE’S REDEMPTION. It’s a western historical novella with a bit of sweet romance thrown in. Here’s the blurb and buy link:
A ten-year-old boy fights for his life when he is taken prisoner by a band of raiding Apache. Steeling himself for death, Will Green is shocked when a lone man walks into the Apache camp to rescue him several days later.
Driven by the secret he carries, Jacobi Kane has followed the Indians for days and needs to make his move to save the boy. With the odds stacked eight against one, his chances for success look pretty slim. But even if he's able to rescue the boy and they get out alive, what then?

Friday Five...Three...One... is a chance for guest bloggers to share a bit about themselves in a fun format of Five Facts, Three Questions and One Sentence. If you'd like to be a guest on Friday Five, Three, One drop me an email.
Keena thanks for having me today. I love this "Friday Five" idea of yours, girl!
Thanks Cheryl. I'm so excited you're visiting today. I love this new story of yours--and absolutely can't wait to read more.
So tell me, how did you come up with Kane?
Keena, this story started out as a short story for a western writers' group I belong to, Western Fictioneers. We were going to put out an anthology of old west short stories. But after I started working on this one I knew it was not going to be a short story. There are two more parts I have yet to write. Part 2 will be the story of how Kane is talked into going after the Indians that he left alive the first time, when he rescued Will. He leaves Will behind safely or so he thinks, but Will catches up to him on the trail and it's too late to send him back. In Part 3, Will's estranged family from Boston comes west to bring him back to live with them, but he's having no part of it. You know I wound Kane...right? LOL
HOW FUN! I'v gone back and read a bunch of them and found a ton of new books for my TBR list!
Love it, love it, love it! Why can't all interviews be this cool and interesting? Well, because there's only one Keena.
Cheryl..you know why I love you? There is no artifice in you--what you see is what you get! Take it or leave it--you are what you are.
I admire honesty and enthusiasm.
And I'm rooting for you and your dream.
Is this not the COOLEST idea ever? I just love it! And I'm so glad you went back to look at the other FRIDAY FIVE authors and found a ton of new reading material. Thanks so much for coming by!
I'm so glad you made it over here. Yep, there is ONLY one Keena, and what a brain she had to think of doing this! Love the questions, and love that it's short, sweet and to the point--I guess I should have said..."I DO sing...just not in the shower." LOL Celia, you are such a dear, dear friend. I love you too, and yep, you've got me pegged, for sure. I don't do "pretend" --what you see IS what you get. LOL Well, one of these days, I hope to achieve that dream, and if I do, it'll be because of my wonderful friends and family and the support I get from so many people. This world is just fantastic!
Pickle juice, I had to bust out laughing on that one,
Kane's Redemption is going to be a great story.
i watch Hell On Wheels on the DVR, too,Cheryl. I can't wait until the next season.
Cheryl, not into shoes or purses here, either! Sounds like Kane has his hands full. Gotta love a man with full ... uh, hands.
LOL SARAH! Did you ever drink pickle juice? I remember when my cousin (who lived in California) used to pour dill pickle juice over ice and drink it--it was kind of a fad back then, but I was only like 6 when we visited them that time and although I loved pickles, I couldn't bring myself to drink the juice like a drink. LOL When I was little, my dad and I used to sit in front of the tv with a jar of sour pickles and just eat them from the jar. We both loved those things. They are really hard to find now, but back then they were common. Thanks so much for your kind words about KANE'S REDEMPTION. I need to be working on the 2nd part right now...but I'm playing. I am soooo excited about Hell On Wheels--I'm thrilled they picked it up for season 2. Great show! Thanks so much for coming by Sarah--I tried to come over to your blog yesterday and leave a comment but it wouldn't let me. :((
Loraine! LOL about the shoes and purses. When I was young my mom used to tell me I was "too young to worry about being comfortable--you wear what LOOKS GOOD."LOL I've never forgotten that...so now I'm old enough I can be comfortable. LOL Oh, yes, Kane definitely has his hands full. You know he gets wounded, right? LOL Thanks for coming by!
Brief and to the point, I love it! Back in the day when I drank Coke, there was nothing that took the place of original Coke. That new coke or cherry coke or diet coke - none of them ever was as satisfying to me.
I'm a comfy shoes gal too!
I'm so looking forward to reading Kane's Redemption. It's on my Kindle just waiting for my trip.
Wishing you all the best for Kane's Redemption.
Thank you, Maggie! You have a safe trip! How I wish I could drink COKE with no consequences. Now that I'm diabetic, I allow myself just a small glass every once in a while...sigh.I remember when I was YOUNG!LOL
Ditto about the shoes and purses--never was hung up on either. Or shopping for them. And I love pickles, although I'm addicted to dill pickles (and juice). Can't eat much salt, though, so my pickle days are few and far between now. Um, so's Coke. I can still guzzle coffee, though. LOL.
I'm looking forward to Kane's Redemptin! :)
I with you on the shoes-- gotta be comfortable. However, purses I love. I have way too many. lol
I love this interview. Quick and fun. I wish you the very best and I hope all your dreams come true. You're on my Bestseller's List. I love your stories!
I'm glad you like the format, everyone. I'm always open to guest bloggers, so drop me an email if you're interested...
Cheryl, I love dill pickles, but the thought of drinking pickle juice makes me gag.
I miss my Coke more than anything now that I'm old and have diabetes.LOL But I still drink it once in a while--just not like I used to. I hope you enjoy Kane's Redemption!
I wanted to tell you I got such a nice compliment on the cover of Kane's Redemption over on the FB page for western writers. Marcia Ward? I think that was her name. I told her you had done the cover and she said she was going to look you up! Thanks so much for doing all my wonderful covers for me. And thanks for the very kind words about my work--that means a lot!
LOL KEENA! I don't think I could do it, either. She poured it over ice just like a glass of tea or something. I will never forget that. LOL Thanks again so much for having me today. I enjoyed it!
